Veterans Services Fair November 7 in Temperance

TEMPERANCE — A major Veterans Services Fair is scheduled for next month in Temperance.

“I’m told (there was) something similar a few years ago, but not as big,” said Beth Berlin, program director for the Monroe County Retired Senior Volunteer Program. “We won’t do this every year. Maybe still in three to five years.

The service fair, sponsored by RSVP and Family Medical Center of Michigan, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Bedford Veterans Center, 8020 Lewis Ave.

“Our goal is to help local veterans learn about the services available to them in the area,” Berlin said.

Attendees can learn about Monroe County area services for veterans and their families, including pet companionship, housing assistance, counseling services, home care options, ramp program, food support, memory loss care and respite, suicide prevention support, health services, transportation services, hospital and PTSD support.

Food and door prizes will be offered. Lunch will be provided by Agua Dulce Coffee & Tea, Family Medical Center and Subway.

Organizations planning to attend include Ann Arbor VA, Bedford Senior Center, Companion Animals, Francis Family YMCA, Freedom Center, MCOP Veterans Services, Memory Lane, Monroe County Retired Senior Volunteer Program, ProMedica Hospice of Monroe, Visiting Angels and Moreover.
